Foundation / Diploma
A Diploma or foundation course is equivalent to the first year of a university course and is called the International Freshman (also known as the Express Course). After completing the Diploma course, students can directly enter into the second year of university. (Requires a final exam, generally requiring a GPA of 50% or higher to graduate). The Diploma courses offered by each Australian university are consistent with the respective university’s undergraduate freshman course. As long as you pass all the requisite units in the Diploma course, you can then enter directly into the sophomore year and officially become a member of the university. When a student (from a Diploma course) completes the university undergraduate course, the university graduation certificate issued is exactly the same as the graduation certificate obtained by any other student of said university.
